Description
The Great Heathen Army is Amon Amarth’s 2022 full‑force return — a crushing, melodic‑death‑metal assault built on massive riffs, battle‑ready choruses, and the band’s trademark Viking ferocity. It’s one of their most focused and aggressive modern albums, blending mythic storytelling with sharpened production and a heavier, darker tone than recent releases.
From the fist‑raising opener “Get In The Ring” to the triumphant title track “The Great Heathen Army,” the album charges forward with relentless energy. “Heidrun” brings a melodic, folk‑tinged hook, while “Oden Owns You All” and “Find A Way Or Make One” deliver classic Amon Amarth swagger. Side B leans into epic atmosphere and battlefield drama, closing with the brooding “The Serpent’s Trail.”
A strong, modern entry in their catalogue — and a fan favourite for collectors of coloured vinyl.
