Description
…Of the Dark Light is Suffocation at their most vicious — a relentless, hyper‑technical assault that cements the band’s legacy as pioneers of brutal death metal. Released in 2017 and reissued here in 2025 in beautiful coloured vinyl, this album marks the debut of guitarist Charlie Errigo and drummer Eric Morotti, and the final studio appearance of legendary vocalist Frank Mullen.
The record delivers everything fans expect from Suffocation: crushing riffs, complex structures, inhuman drumming, and a suffocating atmosphere. Tracks like “Clarity Through Deprivation,” “Your Last Breaths,” and the title track showcase the band’s signature blend of brutality and precision, while the production — handled by Joe Cincotta and mixed/mastered by Zeuss — gives the album a razor‑sharp, modern edge.
A must‑have for collectors of extreme metal and fans of the band’s uncompromising sound.
Why this is in the Crimson Vinyl Stock
I am a late bloomer when it comes to extreme metal, but I found this on the supplier stock list, read the reviews, and got it in. I have this in my personal collection, as well as adding one for the store. For lovers of extreme metal, this is a must have, the production is great and the sound just oozes out of the speakers. And the band? F$%& – it hits you in the skull like a sledgehammer. A true gem in my collection.
